Club Committee

Lucton Typhoon Swimming Club is run by a team of volunteers who work together to support our swimmers, coaches and families. Our committee helps guide the club, make decisions, organise key areas behind the scenes and ensure the club continues to grow in a positive and sustainable way. We are always keen to welcome parents and carers who would like to get involved, whether that means taking on a specific role or simply joining the committee to offer ideas, support and a fresh point of view.

Currently Committee

Chairperson — Charlotte Tully

Charlotte helps lead the committee, keeps meetings focused, and supports the overall direction of the club.

The Chairperson works closely with the rest of the committee to make sure decisions are made fairly, discussions stay productive, and the club continues to act in the best interests of its swimmers and members.

Secretary and Membership Coordinator — Maddy Meek

Maddy helps keep the committee organised. This includes preparing agendas, taking minutes, keeping records, sharing information, and helping make sure actions from meetings are followed up.

As Membership Coordinator, Maddy also supports the administration of club membership, helping keep swimmer and family information organised and supporting communication around membership processes.

This role is important in keeping both the committee and membership side of the club running smoothly.

Treasurer — Andy Furniss

Andy oversees the club’s finances. This includes monitoring income and expenditure, supporting budgeting decisions, keeping financial records, and helping the committee understand the financial position of the club.

The Treasurer helps make sure the club remains financially stable and sustainable.

Welfare Officer - Rachel Read

The Welfare Officer helps make sure the club provides a safe, supportive and positive environment for all swimmers.

This role is focused on swimmer wellbeing and safeguarding. The Welfare Officer is a point of contact for swimmers, parents, carers, coaches and volunteers if they have any concerns or need guidance.

They help ensure the club follows appropriate safeguarding procedures, supports good practice, and works with the committee to keep welfare at the heart of club life.

The Welfare Officer plays an important role in helping swimmers feel safe, listened to and supported within the club.

General Committee Members

We have a number of committee members who provide us with support, guidance and feeback.  You do not have to take on a named role to join the committee.

We are always looking for additional committee members who can attend meetings, share ideas, ask questions, offer feedback, and bring a parent perspective to club discussions.

Sometimes just having another voice in the room is incredibly valuable.

A general committee member can support the club in a flexible way, without needing to lead a specific area.

Other Available Roles

We are also looking for parents or carers who may be interested in supporting the club in specific areas. These roles do not need to be overwhelming or time-consuming. Many can be shared, shaped around availability, or supported by other committee members.

Social Media Coordinator

This role would help keep our social media active, positive and engaging.

This could include sharing club news, celebrating swimmer achievements, promoting events, posting reminders, and helping show the brilliant things happening across the club.

Grants, Fundraising and Sponsorship

This role would help the club look for opportunities to raise funds or access support.

This could include researching grants, contacting local businesses, helping with sponsorship ideas, supporting fundraising activities, or looking at ways to bring in extra funding for equipment, training and club development.

Club Growth and Outreach Support

This role would help us think about how we attract new swimmers and families to the club. This could include looking at promotional opportunities, links with local schools, community events, taster sessions, posters, website information, and ways to make it easy for new families to understand what the club offers.

This would support the wider membership work without needing to take on the full membership administration role.

Meet Coordinator

This role would help organise and communicate swimming meet opportunities for our swimmers. This could include keeping track of upcoming meets, sharing entry information with parents, helping coordinate entries, reminding families about deadlines, and supporting communication between parents, coaches and the committee.

The Meet Coordinator helps make the competition side of swimming feel clearer and easier for families to navigate.

Events Coordinator

This role would help plan and organise more club events.

This could include presentation evenings, social events, fundraising activities, team celebrations, fun sessions, or other activities that bring swimmers and families together away from regular training and competitions.

Club events are a great way to build team spirit and help families feel part of the wider club community.

Kit and Merchandise Coordinator

This role would help manage club clothing and kit orders.

This could include liaising with suppliers, sharing order forms, helping with sizing information, coordinating orders, and distributing items when they arrive.

Having someone to support this area helps make it easier for families to order club kit and helps keep swimmers looking and feeling part of the team.
